Aeromechanical Conveying FAQ

FAQs about Floveyors

How long does a FLOVEYOR last?

  • Floveyor machines last for significant amounts of time when they are applied properly.  Rope assembly replacement is a function of operation time and the material softness/abrasiveness.

Will the FLOVEYOR degrade my product?

  • In almost every case, we can say no!  The Floveyor operates at a similar speed to dense phase pneumatics, thereby, not impacting the material within the machine.

How easy is it to clean the FLOVEYOR?

  • In most cases, the machine is self - cleaning.  It usually empties itself of materials.  However, if cleaning is necessary, the residue can be blown through with compressed air, or water can be run through it, then drained out.
How long does it take to replace a FLOVEYOR rope assembly?
  • The machine was designed to make this job easy.  You first open the hinged top cover.  That gives you access to the rope assembly.  Then, find the colored joining disc, undo the four bolts, and attach the new rope assembly to the old one.  Use that to pull the new assembly through, detach the old one and join up the ends of the new one after knocking the housing back down a little.  It's all done with minimum downtime.  Then you re-tension the new rope assembly.
Is there a danger of fluidized powders exploding because of static electricity?
  • We have never known it to happen.  First, there's only a small volume inside the tube.  So, the explosive volume is very small.  Second, the casing is metal and you can easily conduct away any static.  We recommend that you earth the casing if you're using explosive materials.
Can the FLOVEYOR rope assembly speed be increased/decreased?
  • NO!  If you change the speed, you interfere with the principle of operation.  If you want more/less throughput, you change the flow of material into the machine, up to the limit that it can handle. The Floveyor speed remains constant
